Google Ads No Recent Conversions: Each Status and Its Fix

Google Ads no recent conversions, Awaiting conversions, Unverified or Misconfigured? Read what your status means and run the check that fixes it.

No recent conversions means Google Ads recorded no conversion from an ad click on that action in the last 7 to 14 days, and once the tag is verified, Google says the likely cause is a lack of conversions, not a broken tag. Google's current status list calls a 7-day gap Awaiting conversions; find your status below and run only its checks.

Start here

Google is gradually rolling out five overview statuses in the Status column of Goals > Conversions > Summary: Active, Needs attention, Misconfigured, Awaiting conversions and Removed (Google: conversion tracking status). Until they reach your account, it may show the statuses Google's Tag Assistant help uses: Unverified, Tag inactive, No recent conversions or Recording.

No recent conversions or Awaiting conversions

Check 1: Does Google still see the tag?

WhereGoogle AdsGoalsConversionsSummary
Do: Select the action's status and read Last activity recorded.
You should see: A recent date, which shows Google detects activity from your tag even with no recent conversions.
If not: The tag may have stopped firing. After a move to a new domain or thank-you page, put the tag on the new URLs; after a new consent banner, check how it gates the tags. Then run Check 6.

Check 2: Do ad clicks reach the tagged page?

Do: Confirm the campaigns are running and their final URLs lead to the page where the conversion fires.
You should see: Clicks in the last 7 days on ads that lead there. Google's most likely cause for this status is no ads sending people to the tagged page, and a new action can take up to 48 hours to record conversions.
If not: Unpause the campaigns or fix the URL. With ads running and few clicks, the status is simply accurate.
Careful: A redirect on the way must keep the gclid, which Google needs on the final landing page to track conversions. See Google Ads auto-tagging.

Check 3: Did your test start with an ad click?

Do: Search one of your active keywords on Google, click your ad and complete the conversion, which is Google's own test.
You should see: The conversion within a few hours, though reporting can take 3 to 24 hours. Google files it under the click date.
If not: Rerun the test from an ad click. Tests made in Tag Manager preview, or by opening the conversion page directly, may not reflect in Google Ads.
Careful: Google charges you for that ad click.

Check 4: Can your calls pass the call rules?

WhereGoogle AdsAdminAccount settingsCall reporting
Do: For a Calls from ads action, confirm call reporting is On, then read the minimum call duration set on the action.
You should see: Call reporting on, since with it off Google Ads stops tracking Calls from ads as conversions, and a minimum your real calls exceed. With call recording on, Google's AI judges lead quality instead.
If not: Turn call reporting on, or lower the minimum, since a minimum set too high means short calls won't count. For CallRail numbers, see CallRail calls not showing in Google Ads.

Check 5: Are your imports still arriving?

WhereGoogle AdsGoalsConversionsSummary
Do: For an imported action, hover its offline data quality in the status column and select Go to diagnostics.
You should see: Excellent or Good. No recent data means no events received in the last 28 days.
If not: Restart the upload job and resolve the alerts, which Google lists with the most affected data first. Common errors are in offline conversion import errors.

Unverified or Misconfigured

Unverified means the action's tag has not fired yet. Misconfigured means conversions stopped recording after a setup error, an unlinked data source or a tag that stopped firing; an action over 48 hours old with no tag ping shows Conversion has never received data.

Check 6: Does Tag Assistant verify the action?

WhereGoogle AdsGoalsConversionsSummary
Do: Hover the status, select Troubleshoot, then Continue; on a Misconfigured action, Fix it on the status overlay opens the same guided flow. Enter a landing page URL rather than the conversion page, select Connect, trigger the conversion and select Finish.
You should see: The action verified. Verified actions show as no recent conversions until a real conversion arrives, then Recording; the account updates in about 30 minutes.
If not: If Tag Assistant saw nothing, select I thought I already triggered it to see the failure and Google's fixes. Walkthrough: checking conversion tags with Tag Assistant.
Careful: With Tag Manager, you may first need to select Debug live version in the Tag Assistant window.

Check 7: Do the conversion ID and label match?

WhereChromeMore ToolsDeveloper ToolsNetwork
Do: With the Network tab open, load the conversion page and find the request to www.googleadservices.com.
You should see: The number after /pagead/conversion/ equals your conversion ID and the characters after &label= equal the action's label (Google). To find both, see conversion ID and label.
If not: A mismatch most likely means the tag belongs to another action: install this action's tag. Send the value as a plain number, since a currency sign or comma means no conversion is recorded.
Careful: An action Google created automatically can't be mapped to a Tag Manager tag. Create a manual action for an ID and label, then follow conversion tracking with Tag Manager.

Check 8: Is the data source linked?

WhereGoogle AdsToolsData manager
Do: Under Connected products, find the source the action imports from and select Manage.
You should see: The source linked. An unlinked source raises the alert Conversion data source is not linked, and Google Ads receives none of its conversions.
If not: Relink the source, or select Fix it on the status overlay.

Needs attention, Removed or Inactive

Check 9: What does the Needs attention alert say?

WhereGoogle AdsGoalsConversionsSummary
Do: Hover the status and expand each alert.
You should see: A named issue on an action that still records conversions, for example enhanced conversions missing user-provided data.
If not: Follow the alert's steps; that enhanced conversions alert offers Fix it on the overlay. On an imported action, Needs attention in diagnostics means under 70% of events are well-formed and valid.

Check 10: Was the action removed or overridden by a manager account?

WhereGoogle AdsGoalsConversionsSummary
Do: Under the Conversions dropdown select All conversions, then set the status filter to All.
You should see: Every action you use shows as enabled. Google archives actions with no data for 13 months as removed.
If not: Select the action with the red removed dot and change it to Enabled, or create it again.
Careful: Under manager-level conversion tracking, Google marks the account's own actions inactive, and the account can't use them while the manager's actions count. Read the manager's action.

Active, but no conversions in campaigns

Check 11: Is the action primary in its goal?

WhereGoogle AdsGoalsConversionsSummary
Do: Find the goal that holds the action, select Edit goal and read Conversion action optimization.
You should see: Primary. A Secondary (observe only) action reports only in All conversions and does not bid unless a custom goal includes it.
If not: Select Primary, then Save. Conversions created in GA4 arrive secondary, and only Google Ads can make them primary (linking GA4 to Google Ads).

When every action reads Active

Next, make sure the actions that bid are worth paying for: a form fill or a short call is not a booked customer. Tying tracked leads to what closed offline is closed-loop attribution, which is the work I do.

Frequently asked questions

Why does Google Ads say no recent conversions when my tag is working?

Because the status is about conversions, not the tag. Google's help says No recent conversions means no conversions from ad clicks were recorded for that action in the last 7 to 14 days, and that once the tag is verified the status is likely due to a lack of recent conversions. An action Tag Assistant has just verified also shows no recent conversions until a real one arrives.

What does Awaiting conversions mean in Google Ads?

Google Ads has recorded no conversion for the action in the last 7 days. Google says this typically means the action was created under 48 hours ago, your campaigns are paused, or traffic is too low to trigger a conversion. Select the status and read Last activity recorded to see whether Google still detects your tag.

Why is my Google Ads conversion action inactive?

Google groups Tag inactive with No recent conversions: no conversions from ad clicks in the last 7 to 14 days, so check the tag's last activity first. If a manager account runs conversion tracking for the account, Google marks the account's own actions inactive. Actions with no data for 13 months are archived as removed, and you can re-enable them.

What is the difference between Unverified and Misconfigured in Google Ads?

Unverified means the action's tag has not fired yet. Misconfigured, one of the five statuses Google is rolling out, means conversions stopped recording because of a setup error, an unlinked data source or a tag that stopped firing, and an action older than 48 hours with no tag ping gets the alert Conversion has never received data.
